![]() ![]() Sadly parts from the later models are inter-changeable. It is not just a case of refilling with silicon fluid. The lift unit on the older 30 were manufactured using a method of vacuum sealing unfortunately once this seal is broken there is nothing that either you or we can do. I have spoken to several owners and many are experiencing the same issues I have and are wondering what possible repair routes were available. I was also wondering if the new style would fit on the old tone arms and what the cost would be for one of them. I have heard that you do not repair those parts anymore, and was wondering if there was anyway I could find out the viscosity or type of fluid used in those. I have an old sme 3009 s2 improved and all of the fluid from the dashpot is gone and the tone arm drops uncontrolled. I sent an email to SME and this was their response, very timely I might add. ![]()
